#ProtectWhatYouLove
Protect What You Love (PWYL) is a people-powered campaign to protect the places and people we care about from the harms of coal, oil, and gas.
We’re collecting and amplifying community stories—about kids’ health, clean water, secure jobs, and safe homes—to build public pressure for a real shift to affordable, reliable renewables.
Together, we’re working to win a formal negotiating mandate for a Fossil Fuel Treaty and speed the transition that keeps what we love safe. Add your voice, share your message, and help move decision-makers to act.
What Do You Love That You Want To Protect From Fossil Fuels?
We’ve been asking people to share what they want to protect from the fossil fuel industry. Read their messages below and add yours. Your story helps show what’s at stake and what we’re building toward together.

Evaristo Jimenez Peña
Sustainable Ocean Alliance DR - Dominican Republic
When I think about my childhood, it's impossible not to think about the ocean. I grew up with it, and I want to protect the thing that has seen me grow and given me so much. To protect it, it is necessary to ensure a just transition.

Celestia (Ghillean Pranz Fegidero)
Youth For Climate Hope Philippines
I love my home and my community. We need to protect it for the next generations to witness the beauty of our community and environment. But more than that, we deserve to live a dignified life, where communities are free from the threats that fossil fuels bring. This is why I'm pushing for a fossil fuel phaseout because my community has been threatened by multinational corporations trying to put up fossil fueled power plants in our island.

Princess Charles
Project lead of Redefining Work Series with Caribbean Feminist - Trinidad and Tobago
I love people. I love my communities and those who do so much to support our lives and our livelihoods and bring more meaning to what life means -- and many of these people are workers. Many of them face several risks because of climate change: exposure to heat, excessive rainfall, of exploitation -- not just of their labor but resources that they need to survive in these spaces. My love lies in the essence of protecting community and having that duty of care. To do this, we need a just transition away from the fossil fuel industry with no worker, community, or country left behind.

Ayshka Najib
People's Climate Diplomacy Program - United Arab Emirates
My love is for the communities on the frontlines, those who have contributed the least to the climate crisis yet bear its harshest impacts. Love means solidarity. The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty is how we honor that love, by phasing out the industry driving climate injustice.

FOSSIL FREE SPAIN
Fossil Free Spain is collecting 500 signatures on a petition urging Spain to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. The page explains the treaty’s goal to stop new coal, oil, and gas expansion, cut existing production in line with science, and drive a fair transition to renewables—complementing (and accelerating beyond) gaps in the Paris Agreement. Backed by 4,000+ groups and prominent leaders, the campaign invites people to sign the form, opt into updates, and for civil society, citizens, academics, politicians, local governments, and businesses to help push Spain to join treaty negotiations

FOSSIL FREE SRI LANKA
Fossil Free Sri Lanka invites people to add their names in support of endorsing the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, stressing that Sri Lanka “cannot afford to wait” amid floods, droughts, and landslides. The page outlines why endorsement matters: it would strengthen Sri Lanka’s climate leadership, unlock international funding and partnerships for renewables, protect communities by cutting emissions and boosting resilience, and drive jobs and growth in clean, sustainable industries. Citing growing global momentum—13 countries, 100+ cities, and thousands of scientists and activists have endorsed—the campaign urges visitors to submit their details, opt into updates if they wish, and read more in Tamil or Sinhala, with a final call to “add your name today” to help change the nation’s course.
A week ahead of COP30, a global group of cultural, political and climate leaders - including Christiana Figueres, Mary Robinson, Ban Ki-Moon, Richard Branson, Gina McCarthy, Stella McCartney and Dia Mirza - is calling on governments to clarify how commitments made at previous COPs will be implemented. They are joined by organisations representing the 89% of people who support stronger climate action globally including mayors, youth, indigenous and faith groups.
The statement was launched on Tuesday 4th November 2025 alongside new data by Potential Energy Coalition which shows eight in ten people across ten countries support government investment in wind, solar and nuclear - twice as many as those that back fossil fuels.
